Project Overview
- Role: AI-Native Builder orchestrating Claude (implementation) with systematic phase-by-phase development
- Stack: Python, Local LLM (Ollama), Cloud API (Gemini), SQLite equivalent (JSONL), MCP for Multi-Agent
- Timeline: October 2025 - Jan 2026
- Background: Third AI-native project; evolved from Kai Lite mobile experience
- Scope: Desktop AI companion with emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and multi-agent research capabilities
Introduction: Building a Thinking Partner That Thinks About Itself
After proving the concept with Kai Lite on mobile, I wanted something more ambitious: a desktop AI companion that wouldn't just respond to me, but would learn from our interactions, reflect on patterns, understand its own behavior, and eventually expand into a multi-agent research system.
This wasn't about building another chatbot. It was about exploring what happens when you give an AI companion:
- Memory that spans months of conversations
- Emotional intelligence that reads between the lines
- Self-awareness that learns from its own behavioral patterns
- Meta-cognition that identifies and fills its own knowledge gaps
- Privacy boundaries that keep sensitive conversations completely local
- Research capabilities through specialized agent collaboration
The Vision:
- Kai Desktop: Deep work companion for daily conversations, reflection, and learning
- Dual-Path Reasoning: Cloud (Gemini) for structured thinking, Local (Ollama) for spiritual/private conversations
- Multi-Agent Ecosystem: Researcher agent for academic deep-dives via MCP integration
